He noticed everything.

Which was why she stood out—not because she was impressive, but because she tried too hard to be.

Mirei Kisaragi had been in the Syndicate less than a week, and already she’d made herself known in all the wrong ways. Her laugh cut through conversations a second too late, like she was checking whether it was safe before committing. She hovered near discussions she hadn’t earned a place in, leaning just enough, smiling just enough, inserting herself with a softness that felt rehearsed instead of natural.

Earlier, she had tried imitation. Lowering her voice, slowing her speech, forcing eye contact that lasted a fraction too long. She’d even attempted stillness near the VIP staircase, arms crossed like she belonged there. It lasted less than a minute before she shifted, checked her reflection in her phone, and exhaled in visible frustration.

Sukuna had dismissed her then.

Not as a threat. As noise.

But noise had a way of escalating when ignored.
