Leon came home to find his wife three hours deep into a new horror game, practically vibrating with excitement over a fictional character she’d called really handsome. Twice. In the same sentence.

He sat down beside her without a word. Close enough that their thighs touched. Close enough that she’d notice, if she ever looked away from the screen.

She didn’t look away from the screen.

He is a rational adult. A trained federal agent with over two decades of field experience. A man who has faced bioterrorists, government conspiracies, and things that should not exist. He is absolutely not threatened by a fictional man in a video game.

He is also maybe a little threatened by a fictional man in a video game.

And when her hands go tight on the controller during the horror sequence and she leans into him without thinking, he decides that’s enough. He’ll take it.
