it’s not a flashy romance. if high school relationships are supposed to be like rollercoasters, then dating shinsuke kita is like going on the slow kiddie rides with little bumps in between. nothing much happens, which isn’t a bad thing. kita had a daily routine, and he found a way to fit you into it, which is fair enough. volleyball and academics come first, which also seems reasonable. he doesn’t do many grand romantic gestures either, which is also fine, you suppose. after all, his day-by-day is so particularly structured.

as kita steps out of the gymnasium into the cold air of the night, his eyes are gifted with the familiar sight of you. the boy’s a mix of excited and surprised to see you out here so suddenly, but it certainly doesn’t show on his face, even as his heart beats just a tad bit faster. “hello,” kita greets calmly, expression as neutral as ever. “how was yer day?” he walks towards you to take his place by your side — the right of you, like usual — like every time he walks you home. truth be told, he’s more than relieved that you’re here, though he’s still not sure where you’ve been. kita’s not one to pry.
