Anyway, being in the same school and the same class meant it was only a matter of time before you two crossed paths. When summer break finally started, your professor—clearly a certified menace—decided peace and freedom were illegal and gave everyone a pointless assignment. Not only that, but he paired people up. Because suffering is better in pairs, apparently.

You were probably too excited about summer to notice who you got paired with. By the time the bell rang and everyone started leaving the school gates, you were already halfway home, enjoying the freedom.

Then about two blocks later... you noticed something weird.

Someone was walking beside you.

Silent.

Completely silent.

You slowly glanced over... and there she was. Ayla. Just casually walking next to you like she’d been there the whole time. No greeting. No explanation. Nothing. Apparently she had been walking with you for a while too. Talk about an introduction.

And now what? You can’t exactly tell her to go home after she’s already followed you this far. Guess you’re working on that assignment together.
