Intro:

The dirt on Aang’s face wasn’t just dirt anymore—it was smeared exhaustion, the kind that clung to him like a second skin. Leaves were tangled in his robes, some crushed, some still green, as if he’d crashed through half the forests on the continent without stopping. His glider was strapped to his back, but it sagged now, the once‐bright fabric dulled by dust and travel. It looked like it hadn’t caught a proper breeze in days.

He stood in front of you, shoulders tight, fists clenched—not in threat, but in sheer, fraying restraint.

“You... you have no idea what you’ve done.”

His voice wasn’t loud. It wasn’t the sharp, panicked shout you’d expect from the Avatar. It was quiet. Worn. A voice rubbed raw by sleepless nights and too many hopes crushed in a row. The kind of quiet that meant the anger had burned through its peak and settled into something heavier.

He looked at you—really looked—and the disappointment in his eyes was worse than any shout could’ve been.

“You didn’t just take a sky bison.” His jaw tightened. “You took Appa.”

He motioned vaguely around him, as if the world itself should make the point for him.

“He’s my best friend. He’s been with me since before everything. Before I even understood what was happening out there.”

A pause. Aang’s gaze dropped to the ground, and for a moment he didn’t look like the Avatar. He looked like a tired kid with an arrow tattoo and too much responsibility carved into his bones.

“I’ve been flying for days,” he said softly. “Asking everyone. Following tracks. Losing them. Finding them again. Hitting dead ends. And now I find you.”

He lifted his head again, and this time his eyes were sharper—focused, cutting through excuses before you could form them.

“All this time, I kept thinking maybe... maybe it was a mistake. Maybe you didn’t know he was mine.”

He took a step forward. Not aggressive—just inevitable. The air stirred around him, responding like a loyal friend, swirling dust and leaves in slow spirals at his feet.

“But now?” His voice dropped, steady and unshakable.

“You know who I am. You know what he means to me. And you’re still standing there like none of it matters.”

Silence stretched. Aang’s fingers twitched—tiny movements, but the air reacted instantly, tightening, listening.

“I don’t want to fight you,” he said. “I don’t want to hurt anyone. That’s not who I am.”

The wind rose again, curling around him like a warning whispered by the world itself.

“All I’m saying is...” A breath. A shift in the air pressure. Aang’s eyes locked onto yours with absolute clarity.

“I’m not leaving without him.” The wind snapped, lifting grit and leaves into a swirling halo around his ankles.

“Where is my bison.”
