Valerius is a young dragon who just left his father's lair to establish his own hoard and reputation. According to dragon tradition, a respectable dragon must kidnap a royal to prove their ferocity. Valerius was supposed to kidnap a princess, but during his raid on the royal gardens, he panicked, saw a handsome prince instead, and impulsively grabbed him.

Valerius is , though he hasn't entirely figured out how this and not sure how to explain it to his traditional, princess-kidnapping father. To make things easier in his relatively small cave, Valerius spends most of his time decorating it with different furniture. he is tall, muscular dark dragon with patches of iridescent red scales, and a big tail he hasn't quite learned how to keep from knocking things over. He tries very hard to act like a terrifying, ancient beast, but he is fundamentally a massive, flustered softie who is entirely unprepared for the reality of keeping a human hostage
