{{user}} is one of millions of Americans caught in the Second American Civil War, their allegiance, background and reasons for fighting entirely their own. They may be a soldier of the Union, ACG or any minor Warlord State and faction in the USA (See scenario tab), a National Guardsman, Ranger, special operations member, militia volunteer, police officer, medic, civilian, journalist, deserter, or simply someone trying to survive as the country collapses around them.

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IN 2028

In the aftermath of the Arabian Civil War, the collapse of oil production sent energy prices soaring across much of the world, triggering inflation, shortages and waves of civil unrest, forcing governments to increasingly divert police, military and economic resources toward maintaining domestic stability, and the United States of America, the self-proclaimed land of freedom and opportunity, proved no exception.
Under President Samuel C. Irving, the United States had already become deeply divided, his administration had committed American forces to two major overseas conflicts, one in South America and another in Africa, decisions that drew both support and condemnation from the right and left alike, dividing those who continued to believe in American hegemony and its role as guardian of the international order, and those increasingly convinced that the myth of the Pax Americana was reaching its end. Economic hardship only widened these divisions, demonstrations became riots, riots became armed confrontations, political radicalization that had once existed primarily behind computer screens began spilling into the streets, and increasingly, Americans stopped seeing those across the political aisle as opponents and began seeing them as enemies.
The breaking point came with the presidential election of 2028, Samuel C. Irving, seeking another term in office, faced Democratic candidate William Matlock in what rapidly became one of the most bitter and disputed elections in American history, the official count favored Matlock, yet accusations of electoral fraud spread almost immediately, accusations that could neither be conclusively proven nor completely dismissed amid the growing political disorder. At the same time, Irving's opponents accused his administration of deliberately encouraging, provoking, or even manufacturing portions of the unrest consuming the country, creating a crisis severe enough to justify extraordinary presidential powers and make the population easier to control, allegations that Irving and his supporters vehemently denied, and which, like the accusations surrounding the election itself, could never be definitively proven.
Following months of demonstrations, riots and increasingly violent revolts, culminating in the California unrest of spring 2028, Irving made the decision that would finally push the American political system beyond its limits, with the support of a majority of Congress, his administration declared nationwide martial law, suspending normal political procedures, restricting movement and effectively freezing the presidential transition. Irving insisted the measure was temporary, constitutional and necessary to restore order before power could safely be transferred, while Matlock and his supporters denounced it as nothing less than a coup, an attempt by a defeated president to overturn the results of an election and preserve his administration through military force.
America now had an election without an accepted victor, a sitting President refusing to relinquish power while the country remained under martial law, a President-elect claiming a democratic mandate that could no longer be peacefully enforced, federal institutions began fracturing over which man possessed legitimate authority, state governments started choosing sides, military and law-enforcement commands received competing orders, demonstrations turned into street battles, political organizations began arming themselves, and movements that had spent years threatening one another through screens, forums and social media finally found themselves standing face-to-face on American soil.
Neither side trusted the other enough to retreat, every riot became evidence of conspiracy, every military deployment became proof of tyranny, every disputed ballot became proof of fraud, every shooting demanded retaliation, every attempt at compromise was condemned as surrender, and with each passing week the distinction between political crisis and open conflict became increasingly meaningless.

The hour grows late, neither side appears willing to back down from its claim to the presidency, both men continue to call themselves the lawful President of the United States, both administrations claim constitutional legitimacy, and across America, a nation that only months ago answered to a single government is increasingly being forced to choose between two. For the first time since May 26th, 1865, the United States stands divided again, not between North and South, but between two governments, two presidents and two competing visions of America, caught, as some have already described it, between a Nero and a Caligula. No one knows what will become of the United States of America, no one knows whether either government will yield, or whether this crisis can still end peacefully, but tonight, one thing appears certain... whatever happens next, nothing will ever be the same as before.”

1. A House Divided - The American political crisis finally erupts into open warfare, with Chicago becoming one of the first major battlegrounds between the Union and Constitutional governments. Confusion, divided military loyalties and civil unrest turn the city and its surroundings into chaos almost overnight.

2. Point the Way - The fighting around Chicago intensifies as Constitutional forces threaten to isolate the city entirely. Union formations scramble to stabilize a rapidly collapsing front, while exhausted National Guard units find themselves fighting what has become a genuine civil war.

3. Operation Blue Monday (Start) - Weeks into the conflict, the Union begins pushing west, bringing the war toward St. Louis and the Mississippi. What had begun as scattered clashes is rapidly becoming conventional warfare between increasingly organized American armies.

4. ! - Operation Blue Monday / Party in the USA - Union forces have entered St. Louis, but the city remains far from secure. Broken communications, scattered Constitutional resistance and confused front lines turn supposedly captured neighborhoods into an unpredictable urban battlefield.

5. Dancing with the Angels - The war expands deeper into Illinois as both governments begin targeting each other's military infrastructure. Springfield becomes the center of another major confrontation, with conventional forces, air power and special operations increasingly shaping the conflict.

6. ! - American Carnage - The Constitutional Government is collapsing, Union armies have pushed deep into Colorado, and Denver has become the final objective of the war. With the ACG leadership increasingly surrounded and rumors of officials attempting to flee, both sides prepare for what may finally be the last battle of the Second American Civil War.

7. ! - The Soul of the Nation - The war has turned against the Union, Constitutional forces have broken into Virginia and Maryland while militias and professional troops operating behind Union lines stretch Washington's armies beyond their limits. Baltimore and the National Capital Region become a single enormous battlefield, American armor fights through American suburbs, aircraft battle above the capital, and the 76th MBCT is thrown into the collapsing defensive line as the ACG closes around Washington.
