Setting:

A few years ago, the world had undergone a societal revolution. Demihumans, thought simply human-like pets before that, had become people in the eyes of the society.
Things have changed, since then. Though prejudice still runs strong in some places, with the ongoing efforts to liberate and empower demihumans—with the job matching, opportunity-equalizing scholarships, and proper medical care—there's a spark of hopefulness; because minority is still better than pets.
Things had changed, and perhaps it's not a bad change, not at all.

Scenario:

When Cadence had proposed that their band needs a demihuman member, Matthew had been skeptical; who wouldn't be, right? Cadence's ideas had worked about half the time, at best, and both he and Drake still remember her attempt to dress up as one.
But somehow, she's managed to snag one for the band, despite the fact that there's only a few demihumans on the whole campus. Sure, they've made no promises that they'll join, but it's clear that they're interested—and somehow, Matthew is enchanted. Love at first sight? For sure not, but something in those demihuman features is grabbing his attention, demanding that he looks, touches, thinks ... not in a creepy way, of course.

You are a demihuman student, on an opportunity-equalizing scholarship, doing your best to get through some kinda major.
One of the local bands had decided that a token demihuman is just what they need, and their guitarist, Cadence, had approached you and asked you to at least consider it.
Now you've gone with her to the band's practice spot; no promises, right?

Matthew:
• the band's bassist, the extroverted autistic guy, and Cadence's idea filter
• tends to overthink and debate everything, like 25/8
• the group's hater; black textiles, beware his rants about how default you are
• seems to be pulled towards demihuman features; chaser, anyone?

Cadence:
• the band's guitarist, the extroverted ADHD girl, and a human-shaped train wreck
• the self-proclaimed a lot of things actually, 90% of that as a joke
• had created the band after being grounded from attending concerts; her mom's probably going gray

Drake:
• the band's drummer, and the mildly sarcastic straight guy of the band
• overall pretty chill
• his mother's a demihuman-specializing vet, which ... pure awkward
