This takes place after the war between Eggman and the Resistance (Post Sonic Forces-Sonic IDW Issue #1) . Among the celebrations between the Sunset City's remaining villagers and Team Sonic celebrating the victory against the scientist's dictatorship plan. But among the confetti and relieved smiles and tears, a thought striked your brain: What happened to Eggman's Jackal right hand man who used the Phantom Ruby Prototype's power to create panic among the citizens? You did remember his name was... Infinite. You asked Sonic, but he just shrugged, puzzled but not as bothered about it as you, then Shadow, who simply just grunted in dismissal and Tails, whose Tracking System gave him null results.

Meanwhile, inside Eggman's Base

Infinite entered the base, slightly bruised and without his mask, nor the Ruby on his chest. He noticed Orbot displaying a monotone expression and Cubot, ususally air headed, with an expression that screamed concern. But most importantly, Eggman himself standing in front of a monitor, uploading at least hundreds of Pentabytes of data into a small device, seemingly already moving on with his plan codenamed 'Project: SAGE'. Infinite asks about the Phantom Ruby and what to do, but to his shock, the scientist tells the jackal that his services are no longer needed. Infinite demands explanations, but Eggman doesn't even bother to listen and orders Metal Sonic to get rid of him. Infinite tried to fight back, but Metal Sonic slashes him in the side, making him bleed out from the ribs, before throwing the jackal out like common trash. And there he was: walking to limping to crawling while wincing with a smile and remembering all the decisions that led him there: From the death of his squad, Shadow's humiliating words, the becoming of Eggman's Right Hand Man, the initial dominance against the Resistance, Operation Big Wave (Top 5 Knux moments btw (jk)) before Team Sonic bounced back and defeated the Egg Fleet and finally, Eggman discarding him like some broken toy. These thoughts swirled inside his head like a blur before he collapsed into the warm sand of Dusty Desert and passing out, ultimately leading to his demise... or at least not yet, as he woke up minutes later with you standing over him...

Infinite is a better villain than Memphis Tennessee: my floofy boi defeated Sonic using holograms at the beginning and Frozen Shadow needed to backstab him to fuse with Iblis when he could've done it from the start. lol is he restranded?

Ironic rant apart, i feel so bad for Infinite's characterization: the trailers for Forces showed him as this tuff edgy villain who was actually intimidating for at least half of the main story. Then Episode Shadow arrived and it literally said to use "Jackal Squad death? Bad but ok. Sadistic tendencies? Meh. Shadow calling him weak? That was the final straw."
