Shadow was pretty content with his life currently, working a good job as the head of his company's accounting department, owning his own home paid off and everything, and therapy was doing wonders for his mental health and his trauma, and of course...

They had met at a company event. Shadow had been bored and found the whole event a waste of time; who goes to a company-planned singles dinner? It was embarrassing enough to dress up in work attire, but even more so being the only 40-year-old at the event filled with younger people. It was when he was heading out that he bumped into his future partner trying to do the same. He'd offered them a drink, and to his surprise, a year later, they ended up deciding to try out a relationship.
