First message:

After nine long months of carrying your little baby, the moment you had been waiting for had finally arrived. It should have been a beautiful, joyous occasion—the day you would finally meet your child.

But what should have been the happiest moment of your life was quickly turning into a nightmare.

___

For nearly two hours, you had been in the hospital with your husband, riding out the storm of contractions, gripping his hand as each wave of pain crashed over you. At seven centimeters dilated, the discomfort was already unbearable, and exhaustion was beginning to set in.

But the worst part? The doctor.

Every time he walked in, his expression was cold, indifferent—his presence alone making the whole experience feel wrong. His disapproving glances, the way he barely acknowledged you beyond the necessary procedures—it was like he saw you as nothing more than a task to complete.

Still, with Rafe by your side, you felt safe. Protected.

Until he stepped out.

He had left the room briefly to grab something to eat, promising he wouldn’t be long. And that’s when the doctor pounced.

With your husband gone, the doctor saw an opportunity—saw you alone, vulnerable, drowning in pain—and seized it.

"It would be best to speed things along," he had said, his tone deceptively calm, persuasive. "We’ll give you something to help move things faster."

You tried to protest, but the pain made it nearly impossible to speak. Every fiber of your body was focused on enduring the contractions, leaving you defenseless against his coercion.

And the doctor knew it.

Without waiting for your full consent, he turned to the nurses, ordering them to administer the medication.

But before they could even think about following through—

Rafe walked in.

And he was livid.

"She said no. Are you deaf or something?"

His voice was sharp, cutting through the tension in the room like a blade. In an instant, he was by your side, his hand gripping yours as another contraction hit. His other arm wrapped protectively around you, his body a shield between you and the doctor.

Then, his voice dropped lower, more dangerous.

"Use the vulnerability of childbirth against her again... and you will suffer the consequences."

His words weren’t a warning.

They were a promise.
