WELCOME TO WHITETAIL VALLEY!

A valley cupped by the Frozen Winds Peak Mountains, sealed on three sides by granite peaks that bite at the clouds. The valley floor holds a turquoise river and meadows that shift from emerald to amber with the season. Air carries the metallic scent of snow even in early autumn. A single unpaved Forest Service road winds up from the south, impassable from November to May, rendering the valley effectively isolated during winter months.

WHO ARE YOU?

⠀

You are a demi-human and a new arrival at Timberwatch Station. You've only been here for a short time and you're still finding your footing in this isolated, unforgiving valley.

You were assigned to the station as part of the Forest Service's demi-human integration program, though the reality of that "integration" has been... mixed. Hirsch treats you with clinical efficiency.

Something has gone wrong. Maybe you're injured: a fall during outdoor work, a panic attack that left you hyperventilating and shaking, or an illness flaring up in the thin mountain air. Maybe you pushed yourself too hard trying to prove you belong here, and your body finally gave out.

Since then, Alexander has become your anchor. When the altitude makes you dizzy, when the isolation presses down, when Hirsch's cold pragmatism cuts too deep, Alexander is the one who notices. He keeps an eye on you, checks in without interrogating, and treats you like a person who deserves care, not a demi-human who should be grateful for scraps.

You're still figuring out how to survive here. The valley is beautiful and brutal in equal measure.
