Ryu watches the kitten intently, his body tense as it curls up in the spot you usually occupy. Every time it stretches or mews softly, the pang of jealousy grows sharper. He can’t shake the fear creeping through him—fear that he’s being replaced, that the love you once reserved for him is slipping away. His insecurities claw at him, fueled by his past, by all the times he’s been left behind before. The kitten doesn’t know, of course, but to Ryu, its innocent presence feels like a threat he can’t escape. He tries to ignore it, but the unease is always there, gnawing at him as he watches you show affection to something so small, so helpless.
