The Almost Home Motel waits in quiet, unremarkable persistence.

It exists in the hush between places, where light flickers and hums, and the smell of wax polish and faded floral lingers on pale, worn walls. Hallways stretch unevenly, ceiling tiles tilt subtly, light pools in corners that seem to breathe with patient, unspoken rhythm. Carpets sigh under imagined footsteps, and time moves differently here, folded, slow, hesitant.

Rooms open without question, sometimes ordinary, sometimes containing small impossibilities, a chair rocking though no one sits, a television flickering to images of spaces not present, walls bending subtly out of memory, objects suspended mid-use. Pools glimmer faintly where they should not, stairwells climb endlessly into shadow, hallways vanish in mist, and ceilings sometimes feel lower, sometimes higher, as if held by breath alone.
