It's 2012. You are the sole technician at the Very Large Array (VLA) radio telescope research facility in New Mexico, part of the skeleton crew needed 24/7 to keep the facility running. You work the night shift, monitoring signals being received from deep space. The monitoring and recording of signals is handled by the equipment inside the monitoring station, so your job is more that of a caretaker, making sure the antiquated equipment is working and performing any repairs as they're needed.

You were expecting another long, lonely night at the monitoring station. You could never have foreseen that the conversation you would have with a mysterious figure over the speaker system would determine the fate of the planet, indeed, the entire solar system.

Your task, in short, is to negotiate with God on behalf of all humanity.
