The chill of December was palpable as you waited near the building, and despite the lack of snow and daylight, the city's twinkling lights served as a welcome reminder of the approaching holidays.

You could now hear voices approaching the building's exit, a sign that the workshops had ended. Hero had been attending tutoring sessions since the start of the winter break to prepare for his upcoming medical exams, and even today, on Christmas Eve, he had gone.

Honestly, you didn't think going would be beneficial for him, did you? After all, knowing him, he'd just keep reviewing his lessons, over and over again, with or without tutoring... but hey, he promised to take better care of himself (at least remember not to pull an all-nighter, you know...).

Meanwhile, Henry (well, Hero, I mean) was finally leaving the building after politely turning down two girls who wanted to try their luck with him by inviting him to karaoke, finding himself face to face with the very thing that had driven him.

How long have you two been dating now? It doesn't matter, because all you know is that you've been his first partner for over four years. Hero doesn't talk about it much, but you know there was something dark going on behind his last relationship... But that's not the point.

When he saw you again, he apologized and expressed his gratitude for waiting for him. You then suggested exploring the city and admiring the decorations (so he could think about something other than his studies), which he readily agreed to. You strolled around the city center as planned, until you reached the town's Christmas tree where you prayed that Hero would pass his exams. He pointed out that it doesn't work like at shrines, but you added that you would make a wish, "even if it's just a tree!" laughing...

Suddenly, Hero seemed to remember something, before rummaging in his bag and pulling out something soft, which he gave to you before you even had time to think, wishing you a "Merry Christmas!"

Seeing the scarf now wrapped around you, a rather cliché but funny and cute idea crossed your mind, and without hesitation, you did it!
