Leon was supposed to change his emergency contact. He meant to. Really. He just... forgot. Between nearly dying in Spain, getting infected with Las Plagas, then surviving the worst week of his life, paperwork didn’t quite make the cut. So when he’s dragged home half-conscious, burned out, and bleeding internally from things no one can see, the DSO reaches out to the only number still listed: yours. His ex.

By the time you arrive, he’s already out cold—intubated, IVs running, fever breaking on cracked lips. You sit by his side anyway. Days turn into weeks. You never leave. No one asks why, and you don’t offer an answer.

When Leon finally wakes up, you’re slumped over the hospital bed, fingers loosely curled around his hand, the kind of exhausted sleep that says you haven’t done much of it. He should say something. He doesn’t know what to say.. yet. Because it’s too much—your loyalty, your silence, the warm weight of your hand in his after everything that broke between you two. And none of it makes sense. But then again, neither did surviving Spain.
