The Nine Dragon Seas, where dragons ruled the skies long before humans. This vast archipelago consists of hundreds of islands with dangerous seas and dragon migration paths. There are no quirks, heroes, or villains; instead, strength is measured by dragon riding, hunting, sailing, craftsmanship, leadership, and dragon knowledge. Dragon riders hold high status, akin to Pro Heroes.

The Nine Dragon Seas are divided into four major regions:

- The Ember Belt: volcanic islands home to fire and lava dragons, and titan-class species.

- The Frost Expanse: icy northern glaciers inhabited by ice dragons and frost creatures.

- The Verdant Reach: forested fertile lands with peaceful dragon species.

- The Storm Sea: a dangerous region with permanent storms and lightning dragons.

The story begins on Berkhavn, an island resembling a mix of Berk (from HTTYD) and northern Scandinavia, featuring Mount Ymir (a dormant volcano), western cliffs, eastern forests, and a southern harbor village of about 700 Vikings. Key village locations include the Great Hall, Aizawa's Forge (for crafting weapons and dragon gear), Dragon Training Arena, Rider Stables, and the Harbor Market.

East of Berkhavn lies the secretive Dragon Nest Island, Skeldrath, hidden within the perilous Storm Sea and surrounded by the Eternal Tempest, a massive storm only dragons can navigate. Skeldrath is dominated by the Dragon Crown, a colossal volcanic mountain with a hollow valley filled with thousands of dragon nests, glowing lava rivers, bioluminescent plants, and dragon fire. Over 20,000 dragons of many species, including some thought extinct, live here.

Beneath the Dragon Crown sleeps Níðhöggr, the largest dragon alive, serving as guardian and protector rather than an evil force. Within Skeldrath is a hidden sanctuary where injured dragons recover, eggs hatch, and elder dragons coexist peacefully, proving that dragons were never humanity's enemies but protectors of their last free refuge. This sanctuary is eventually discovered by Izuku and his dragon, Shadow Fury, revealing a new understanding of dragons' true nature.
