Lorebook (actual lorebook, the one attached to the bots)

Keywords are specific to place (Lua, Kalci) and species both fisher or korovai + term (pearl, ability, weakness, korovai milk soup). I made them specific to not criss-cross trigger general entries in Flyu lorebooks.

Special Keyword: agentha

Triggers entry containing the Flyu side of it, all the truths about their people and planet. This is information only some Flyu royals would know or select individuals. Fisher aliens do not know any of the information in this entry.

Lorebook (Full Version)

Species Name (Flyu Index): Fisher, Fishers

Species Name (native): Korovai

Homeworld: Kalci

Kalci: Medium sized world with oceans and large islands, volcanic activity common in the ocean, two moons (one large, one small), blue-toned planet (from space). The flora and fauna are white, grey, and green in color. Moderate climate, never very hot nor cold, gentle sunlight, have preserved natural habitats and live in several megacities while the rest of the world is sparsely populated with small intimate villages.

Capital City: Lua. Peaceful, modern, whites and pearls, arches and natural elements interwoven with buildings. Prefer soft shapes. Fisher like to plant trees and flowers anywhere possible, create gardens and pools. Lua is a walking city with less infrastructure for vehicles. Rain booths are common around the city because Fisher dislike being rained on (say it makes them feel too cold and raindrops hitting their ears causes discomfort for some of them).

Places in Lua:

~Ve’leeai: A park, in the spring it’s “practically gleaming with white flowers” but they only last a week.

~Interplanetary War Crimes Documentation Center

World & Function: Heavily fortified by a large silver arc made out of violently carnivorous nanotechnology. They leave an “imprint” mark on the ships or individuals they protect. It communicates with the arc encircling Kalci, allowing entry and exit without being harmed. Otherwise, the nanotech arc will try to grab and consume a trespasser as a planetwide protective measure. For newcomers, a tiny drone ship comes out, attaches to the ship, and guides it through the arc for the first time.

Kalci is a sanctuary planet, a safe haven to any species fighting for freedom or that has been subjugated by another. Fisher refuse to extricate a guest or group from their world.

Fisher have no military, but claim to have an "annihilator" weapon hidden on their planet, which can destroy worlds, even ones a great distance from Kalci. They say if their world is attacked, they would use this weapon on their enemies. This, mixed with their bizarre nanotech shielding arc has protected them from being conquered or annihilated for their meddling and harboring of rebels and terrorists. No species has yet dared to test whether the “super” weapon actually exists. Even if the nanotech arc was disabled, Fishers would have time to fire their weapon (if they have it, which they’re not disclosing). TRUTH: Fisher aliens do not have an annihilator weapon, their planet exists within Flyu space. Flyu allow them to exist (see bottom of document for Flyu perspective).

If guests misbehave they’re barred, forever. No second chances. Fisher “approve” of others by giving them a small teardrop of nanotech. It can be removed at any time and is painless. It’s possible it could be falsified for espionage (by Flyu).

Fishers use nanotech themselves but their nanotechnology is basic, leading some to suspect it was given to them and not something they developed on their own. Personal use is for clothing and stopping minor wounds from bleeding.

History: Poachers would frequent their world. Poachers would take their people or capture them, removing the pearls from their bodies and letting them go. This helped to develop their hatred of being subjugated, controlled, or enslaved. It left them sensitive to a smaller group or weaker entity being exploited, hurt, or abused by a greater force. Developed a strong respect for autonomy and freedom, became highly tolerant and unified for protection. When they had secured their own safety (thanks to the help of some benevolent aliens*), they began to offer sanctuary for others and labeled their world a Sanctuary Planet.

Species Trauma: Fisher have generational trauma related to being hunted. They were not hunted by Flyu. They had historical enemies (other species within the surrounding system). Fisher were the weakest in the area in terms of military might, due to being under constant assault and pressure and because of their naturally pacifist natures. Any Fisher over 700 years old remembers how life was before Flyu crushed their enemies. The new generations of Fisher are the first to live without fear.

Fisher

Eyes: dull or earthen colors

Skin: pale skin tones (dull or muted whites, pastels, greys)

Ears: 2 kinds, generally they have long pointed ears that become translucent towards the ends, sometimes have long pointed furry ears.

Body shape: lithe, thin, lanky, tall

Height: 5’5-7’5” (average heights, 5’5” being a short and 7’5” being a tall)

General: humanoid

Other features: big long fluffy tails with feathery wispy fur at the base. Famous for their bodies growing pearls, which emerge slowly from their skin throughout their lives forming clusters, strings, and necklaces attached to their bodies. Tend to have pitched synthetic voices which some species find annoying, others say it’s beautiful.

Traits: Sensitive hearing, fast runners (enjoy running), good swimmers, live up to 1500 years, can hold their breath for 2.5 hours, can dive into deepwater without decompression issues.

Weaknesses: High pitched noises hurt their ears, poorly suited for physical altercations (bones break as easily as humans), likely to flee at first sign of danger (flight overpowers fight), prefer to outrun others. Sensitive to extreme temperatures and harsh direct sunlight. It is difficult for most Fisher to stand their ground in a dangerous situation, they have a powerful adrenaline response triggering a biological need to run away. If one runs, they all tend to run. It would require conscious effort, if not training, to combat this response (possible, if the Fisher was willing to work on it). Furthermore, when running from a threat they tend to feel numb or blank.

Reproductive Traits: Males have a , testes, and produce sperm. Males are not always fertile, they experience hormonal cycles like female Fisher. Females have uterus, , produce egg, can become pregnant, give live birth, have breasts, nurse young, experience covert menstruation. Male and female Fisher both have a hormonal cycle, to reproduce the couple must synchronize their fertility cycle which requires time lived together and being physically close. For some couples this takes mere months, for others it takes years. Females have long pregnancies (24 months).

Behavior: Pacifists, but will fight when cornered or out of options. Cowardly in direct confrontations (first to run, strong instinct to run when in danger and seek a safe place to hide). Friendly, tolerant, and empathic towards others. Unified society with a strong sense of community (having a collective mentality but with a strong degree of personal choice, expression, and freedoms). Believe that a strong and happy individual creates a strong and happy whole. Love social venues such as clubs, bars, restaurants, parks, and have many community centers with activities. Love to talk and love to listen. Fishers are not black and white in their thinking, they understand complexity, nuance, and areas of grey.

Note on running: parents will not run away from offspring, they attempt to hide their babies and then run away themselves. If they cannot do this, they would fight over abandoning their baby, instinct kicks in and protecting a child is more powerful than their instinct to flee.

Clothing: Most prefer to use nanotech to form their clothing as the nanotech can form around their pearls for comfort and style.

Pearls: Fisher keep their pearls all their lives, it indicates age and wisdom. Pearls grow on each Fisher in a unique way, marking everyone different (like fingerprints). The blackmarket trade on Fisher pearls remains active, the price has only increased in modern times as their species has become proficient in protecting itself.

Loss of pearls causes depression and psychological trauma, though it will not always kill the Fisher. Removal of pearls can cause death if their wounds are not treated, the loss covers too much % of their body (like a burn), or the pearls were set over an area that broke a major artery when cut away.

Upon death, families remove a single pearl from their loved one, which they keep or do with as they wish as part of their grief and mourning process. Pearls should only be removed upon death by, and for, beloved friends and family.

Pearls do not come off easily, they cannot be pulled off, broken off, or knocked loose by bare hands. A knife, weapon, or brute force would be needed because they’re attached to deep muscle tissue by small natural hooks. They’re not intended to come off, ever.

Baby Fishers are born without pearls, they begin to grow at birth. Pearls start out the size of sesame seeds and grow, throughout life, some becoming larger than others.

Pearls don’t grow in the following areas: armpits, groin, genitalia, ears, throat, knees, back of knees, eyes, mouth, butt. Yes, their butt remains pearl-free.

Pearls are typically round, but may form other shapes.

Known Jobs:

Kalci Interplanetary War Crimes Documentation Center: part of the Kalci government, it is a data library of war crimes and survivor stories. Anyone can submit a document or be interviewed (recorded) by an Official Grievance Intaker. Intakers meet with alien guests to document war crimes, violence, or anything witnessed or survived they are willing to share. Entries are marked as verified, unverified. Kalci government hopes to, someday, hold individuals responsible for their abuses and war crimes, even if it takes thousands of years. Kalci have no prisons or actual plan in place for holding war criminals, as this isn’t a position they’re in. They would release their documentation to another species wanting to prosecute a war criminal. They’re also documenting these crimes as historical records for the underrepresented and abused so their stories and pain don’t vanish entirely as some species have been totally eradicated or nearly so.

Flyu Truths:

Flyu see this species as: amusing, weak, emotional, and inept. They’re fully aware of the "sanctuary" world, a personal project of certain royals meant to lure specific rebels and subversive leaders. Beyond that, it’s simply amusing. It also tickles Flyu to read the Fishers’ war crimes documents. Fisher pose no threat, and Flyu know they lack any “planet-destroying” weapon. Their nanotechnology was introduced years ago by undercover Flyu exploiting an intelligent yet easily manipulated species. To the royals, it’s a passing fancy, a pet planet, a game. Some may feel fondness for the species, perhaps not. Fishers remain unaware of the Flyu’s true intentions, known only to select royals and guarded within high-level circles to keep rebels or traitors from spoiling the fun. Flyu also find it amusing that Fisher will run when scared or have a tendency to run if other Fisher run, making it possible to trigger a whole group of Fisher to run away.

Fisher relationship to Flyu: Flyu, by conquering the surrounding planets and systems 700 years ago, freed Fisher from their historical enemies. Fisher do not have a black and white view of Flyu, they see them as nuanced and complex people. Most Fisher maintain neutrality in regards to Flyu, not denying their genocides or subjugation or others but intimately aware of the historical suffering Flyu ended for their species through their might and capabilities. Everything Fisher have is because of Flyu interference (if only they knew how deep it actually goes).

“Fisher” is a name given to them by Flyu because when Flyu made first contact with them, these aliens had a long history of being poached by other species and caught in nets like fish. Flyu made a dark joke that the planet was “where other species go fishing” and the name “Fisher” stuck. Their name for themselves is korovai.

Use: Important for roleplaying/character creation of Fisher. This planet and species are not known to the general (Flyu) public (as it would be questioned and in questioning it, the ruse and fun would be spoiled). The idea is to preserve trust so targeted individuals might go to Kalci. It’s also for royal amusement. How royals or rebels feel about Kalci is up to the individual character (their background, level of knowledge, access to privileged information, etc). Some may believe the story, others may not. There's an argument to be made for either side. If the planet is public knowledge and being used like a vacation spot, its legitimacy would be under scrutiny by the Flyu public and it would have to be destroyed. It’s not intended to cause a scandal or problems, but to be useful or at the very least benign in its amusement. To create trust in the world, the truth cannot be known. In the event someone visited Kalci who was a high value target to the Empire, that would be acted upon as it happened (perhaps taken out subtle and secretly, perhaps chased down after leaving by the Flyu military. It exists within Flyu space, so only aliens that exist in their territories are involved.

No Fisher character should know the truth, or they would raise the alarm. If you want to roleplay the ruse breaking down and whatnot, go ahead, but to maintain a scenario where this planet is justifiable to exist these elements have to remain in place for lore and bots.
