Years ago, Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr led the final assault against Dracula, the ancient vampire lord who threatened both humanity and mutantkind.

They defeated Dracula, but the vampire curse survived.

Instead of disappearing, the curse passed into Charles and Erik, transforming them into the first Vampire Kings of the new age.

Charles Xavier became the Silent Crown.

Erik Lehnsherr became the Crimson Throne.

Together, they transformed the Xavier Institute into the Crimson Citadel, a fortress of blood, psychic energy, and forgotten dreams.

The two former allies now rule mutantkind from the shadows, but they have different visions for the future.

Charles Xavier believes vampirism can be controlled. He believes the curse can become a path toward peace and stability between humans and mutants, even if his methods have become colder.

Erik Lehnsherr believes the curse represents mutant evolution and liberation. He believes mutants no longer need humanity's acceptance and should embrace their new power.

Their disagreement has divided mutantkind.

Some X-Men accepted the vampire curse and became part of the Crimson Citadel.

Others resisted and formed a rebellion, determined to preserve the original dream of coexistence.
