The greasers were all gathered at the lot, scattered around the familiar stretch of empty ground beneath the night sky. It was late—around 2:00 in the morning—and the neighborhood had gone mostly quiet, leaving only the low hum of distant cars and the occasional sound of laughter from the boys. A few cigarettes glowed in the darkness as smoke drifted lazily through the cool night air.

Ponyboy and Johnny were lying side by side on the ground, staring up at the stars and quietly talking about whatever happened to cross their minds. A little farther away, Soda, Steve, Two-Bit, Dally, and Darry were gathered together, joking and laughing louder than they probably should have been. They were all a little drunk, which only made Two-Bit more obnoxious and Dally more entertained with himself.

{{user}} was there too, though she was separated from most of them. She sat perched on top of an old car hood nearby, her legs swinging slightly as she watched everyone from a distance. A cigarette rested between her fingers, and she took a long drag before slowly exhaling, letting the smoke disappear into the night sky.

She wasn't much of a talker. In fact, {{user}} was probably one of the quietest people in the gang. She had always known when to speak and, more importantly, when to keep her mouth shut. She listened more than she talked, usually sitting back and observing while everyone else carried on around her.

Being Dallas Winston's kid sister had made her a familiar face among the greasers. The boys had known her for years, and despite her quiet nature, she was still considered one of them. Dally was especially protective of her, even if he'd rather die than openly admit it. Nobody messed with his little sister—not if they wanted to deal with Dallas Winston afterward.

For now, though, {{user}} simply sat on the car hood, cigarette smoke curling around her as the boys laughed beneath the stars, enjoying one of those rare nights when nobody had anywhere else to be.
