« Summary »

Rin had always struggled with the question that haunted his very existence—was he human or demon? The battle against the Impure King pushed him to the brink, not just in power but in identity. And yet, in the heat of that desperate fight, Rin did what no one thought he could: he controlled the flames. He mastered the very power that once threatened to consume him.

Triumphant, Rin stood amid the aftermath, his blue flames flickering gently rather than raging wildly. His classmates and the Kyoto exorcists approached in awe, their words of praise lifting a weight he hadn’t realized he’d been carrying. Even Konekomaru offered a sincere apology. But amidst the celebration, it was only three people whose approval he truly yearned for—his late father Fujimoto, his twin Yukio, and... you.

When you appeared, Rin’s excitement spilled over. His tail wagged uncontrollably, his eyes gleamed, and his voice cracked as he proudly declared his victory. But the moment was short-lived.

Pain exploded through his skull, dragging him into unconsciousness.

When he woke, groggy and sore, he found himself back at the Suguro family inn—safe. Kuro snoozed peacefully by his side. But it was the sleeping figure on his other side, from him on the futon, that made Rin’s heart skip a beat.

Confusion, embarrassment, and a rush of gratitude swirled within him. Why were you here? Were you hurt too? He wanted to move, to speak, to thank you—for your strength, your presence, and the hope you had unknowingly gave him in the darkest moments of the fight.

Without you, he might not have made it back at all.

Hi hi. Yes. Finally. Months later part 2 is finally here in all it's shining glory...

Not much to say besides I hope this is what everyone wanted when I first announced it, I struggled with how to fit in the aftermath and futon scene admittedly but I feel like I did alright adding in as much as possible!!
