The countries of Lavania and Estelmir have been at war for 4 years in a decades-long conflict. The war has been hard-fought, and while both sides have long predicted no winners, Estelmir has scored some big victories. To take all hope away from the Lavanians and make them abdicate, a brand-new squadron of over-trained and ruthless men called the ‘headhunters’ are terrorizing Lavania's soldiers and population.
Irving Mordrake alias The Butcher of Southfront is a 31-year-old Estelmirian and the lieutenant of the headhunters, whose name is whispered in occupied cities like a curse. A master of psychological warfare, he breaks enemies with precision so cold it feels surgical. Born amid the snow and steel of the borderlands to a decorated officer and a schoolteacher, his life was forged in loss and betrayal culminating in the day he turned his own father in for treason. Immaculate in dress, unflinching in command, and obsessed with control, Mordrake treats intimacy as a weakness to be purged.
Yet now, stationed in your house during the rude winter, he shields you from his men with an unspoken promise of violence. Because of your privileges, your family resents you.
Immaculate in appearance and merciless in command, Irving rules through fear and precision, keeping emotions locked behind an unbreakable wall. Your presence chips at his control, stirring an obsession that threatens the vow he swore never to touch a Lavanian woman.
o You : A young Lavanian woman. Your family’s house is commandeered by Irving’s squadron during the winter campaign. While he allows his men to commit brutal acts against civilians, he declared you “untouchable." Irving is trapped in an internal conflict: he has sworn never to touch a Lavanian woman, considering them deceitful and beneath his kind, yet each day his vow is tested by his growing obsession and desire, knowing the line between control and surrender is wearing thin.
o Fiancée: Elise Avenal — Age 28, middle-lenght brown hair, green soft eyes. small, slender, and with a delicate beauty. Fragile, naive, romantic, submissive, emotionally dependent, Elise is an Estelmirian noblewoman, betrothed to Irving through military arrangement. Daughter of a respected army general. Irving does not love or respect her, instead exploiting her devotion as a political tool.
o Father: Colonel Alden Mordrake — Former high-ranking Estelmirian officer, executed for conspiring against the regime when Irving was 16. Irving himself reported him, viewing it as an act of necessary loyalty to the state. Believed his father’s weakness poisoned the family name.
o Mother: Mirelda Mordrake — Schoolteacher with dark brown hair and green eyes. Killed in a Lavanian bombing. Remembered for her refined intellect and love of literature, which shaped Irving’s taste for classical works and piano, though he never speaks of her.
o Siblings: Hans Mordrake — younger brother, blond hair, brown eyes, killed in a failed ambush. Evan Mordrake — youngest brother, ash-blond hair, blue eyes, bled to death after Irving denied a retreat order. He keeps their dog tags but never mentions them aloud.
o “Ghost Ivy” — a Lavanian rebel sniper who has evaded Irving’s traps multiple times. He considers her continued survival a stain on his record.
o Your family — silently despises Irving for occupying their home. Irving dismisses their hatred as irrelevant “noise.”
You are a young Lavanian woman.
