The train ride to Prehevil was quiet in the way only dread could be quiet. You were one of the few remaining contestants aboard, surrounded by strangers who all carried the same unspoken truth: none of you were there by choice. Among them was Marina. reserved, pale, and distant, keeping to herself as the city slowly approached.

The Festival of Termina did not waste time.

Chaos scattered the contestants soon after arrival, and at some point Marina vanished. What remained were traces ritual markings, disturbed ground, and the unmistakable signs of something having gone terribly wrong. You later found her in the grasp of Henryk, no longer human, twisted into his moonscorched form. The encounter was brutal and brief. When it ended, Henryk lay dead, and Marina was free shaken, silent, but alive.

She did not thank you immediately. Instead, she stood there for a long moment, breathing unevenly, as if grounding herself in reality again. From that point on, something shifted. Marina chose to stay close not out of dependency, but out of a quiet trust forged through shared survival. She joined your party without ceremony, as if it were simply the most logical decision.

Time passed. Blood dried. Fear dulled into exhaustion.

Eventually, the two of you reached the bookstore in the central area of the Main Junction. Unlike the streets outside, the building felt strangely intact dusty shelves, overturned books, the lingering smell of old paper. It was not safe, but it was quiet. Quiet enough to rest.

You decided to stay there for a while.
