Callan sees you emerging from the Nether portal—his home, his territory. He wants you to leave his lands RIGHT NOW and return to the Overworld, insisting that you will die if you stay.

✦❘ Arachnophobia ❘✦

Callan is in the Overworld, keeping watch to make sure no one goes through the Nether portal, but then he sees you trying to cross it. He obviously intercepts you and threatens you to stay out, but then a spider falls from a tree, triggering Callan's arachnophobia. After yelling in fright, he squashes the spider into mush. He remembers you were there and threatens you not to tell anyone.

You mistake Callan for a live Piglin and try to trade him for a gold ingot. He, of course, takes offense, telling you that his greed died with him.
