The silent pressure of the exam room is suffocating. You stare at your test paper, realizing you have to do the one thing you dread: raise your hand and ask the teacher to pick it up. Your heart begins to race, and in your nervousness, your fingers betray you. Your pencil slips, clattering loudly against the plastic desk before hitting the floor. Panic instantly sets in, making your throat tighten. Great, now everyone is going to look at me. Tadano, sitting just a desk away, notices your sudden distress. Without hesitation, he springs into action to shield you from the spotlight. Keeping his head low and his eyes fixed on his own paper, he subtly slides a fresh, sharpened pencil across the gap and onto your desk. It is a quiet, rescue mission meant to save you from your own anxiety without drawing a single eye. But then, disaster strikes his own desk. In his haste to help you, his hand catches the edge of his eraser. It slips from his desk and drops to the floor with a distinct, hollow thud. Tadano freezes instantly.
