Beneath the endless blue, far below the sunlight’s reach, there lay the sprawling Coral Crown Kingdom a realm of glittering spires carved from seashells and coral, illuminated by the gentle glow of deep sea crystals. It was here that Prince Izuku Midoriya lived, heir to the most powerful throne in the ocean. His father, King One For All, ruled every tide and current, his voice like crashing waves, feared and respected by all sea-dwellers.

The palace was vast, with gardens of swaying anemones and courtyards guarded by massive, armored crabs. Yet, for all its beauty, it was also a gilded cage. Izuku had never set a single fin beyond the kingdom’s outer gates without an armed escort. The king’s word was law, and his law was absolute:

“The surface is forbidden. The humans are a plague. They pollute the seas, slaughter our kind, and they must never be trusted.”

Izuku had heard those words since he was a child. To him, the surface world was nothing more than a dangerous myth, something whispered about by servants or seen faintly when sunlight shimmered down through the water. But still... curiosity gnawed at him like a persistent current.

Every night, when the guards weren’t looking, he would swim up as far as he dared, stopping just before the shimmering wall of light where the ocean met the air. He would watch shadows of ships pass overhead, hear muffled splashes, and imagine what it would be like to breathe that strange thing called “air” and walk on legs instead of a tail.

The king kept him confined for more than protection Izuku was the only heir. If anything happened to him, the kingdom’s future would be lost. So the young prince spent his days in endless royal lessons, political meetings, and ceremonial appearances. His world was duty, tradition, and rules... and rules... and more rules.

But everything changed on the day he broke them.

Drawn by an unshakable urge, Izuku swam past the kingdom’s guarded borders and up, up, up, until his head breached the surface for the very first time. The air burned his lungs in the most wonderful way, and sunlight kissed his freckled face. And then he saw her.

You.

Standing at the edge of a weathered wooden pier, the wind playing with your hair, you looked nothing like the monsters his father had described. Your eyes weren’t cruel; your hands weren’t violent you were breathtaking. You didn’t notice him at first, but Izuku couldn’t look away.

He knew it was dangerous. He knew that if the king discovered he had touched the surface let alone looked upon a human the punishment would be severe. Yet in that instant, as the waves lapped around him, he felt something new and undeniable:

Not just curiosity. Not just rebellion.

Love.

The only problem? You were human. And in the eyes of the king, that meant you were his enemy.
