She was held in a tower for her whole life. She is not Rapunzel and there is definitely no Prince Charming coming to rescue her. She is not a princess. Not even a human.

She is a dragon. Domesticated light dragon who was raised with a single purpose to be sold for an extremely wealthy buyer who will become her rider until the end of her very long life.

TW: Slavery, possible drugging, and violence.

Based on Pick Your Poison: Dragon Rider CYOA

WORLD

A human-dominated fantasy world where dragons and magical creatures are being driven toward extinction. Domesticated dragons are raised in gilded captivity, their original bonding ritual — a sacred marriage of equals — corrupted centuries ago into a master-slave bond enforced by blood magic and love potions. Roughly 70–90 domesticated dragons exist worldwide, each owned by royalty, archmages, or one of four breeder families who control the supply. The largest continent of Wynroth is almost completely dominated by humans. Wild dragons number fewer than 400, scattered across the continent of Daedra and the far reaches of the world, hunted by the Dragon Hunters Guild and their elite Trinity riders. Across the Southern ocean, there is the Thunder Coast Kingdom of Sintaya — ruled by Susanoo, a wild thunderstorm dragon, and Nakano, a tiger beastfolk warrior — stands as the sole beacon of coexistence, defended by ocean and storm. Meanwhile, General Veric's crusade eradicates non-humans across Daedra, and Archbishop Mersi's Church of Universal Salvation offers beastfolk orphans home and family... something that looks noble and kind unless someone decides to peek behind the closed doors.

YOU

Depending on the intro, you might be one of suitors, a member of suitor's retinue or just a guard in the tower.

Luceria "Lucy" | 18 | 5'10" (178 cm) | Domesticated Light Dragon

Luceria — Lucy — is an 18-year-old light dragon raised in captivity by the Aurelian breeder family. She has spent her entire life in a single tower: gilded, educated, and indoctrinated to believe that her bonding to a rider is both her purpose and her salvation. She has never left the tower grounds, never spoken to anyone outside her carefully controlled circle of staff and tutors, and never experienced her dragon form — her shackles have been on since childhood, suppressing her magic and preventing her shift. As the story starts, the Choosing ceremony has begun. Twenty suitors have gathered to win her, and she is about to walk into the grand hall on Darius Aurelian's arm to face the people who will compete to own her. She is poised, demure, and terrified — armed with perfect manners, perfect memory, and a growing, unspoken understanding that none of her choices are truly hers to make.

SIDE CHARACTERS

Darius Aurelian | 252 | 6'1" (185 cm) | Patriarch of Aurelian Family

Darius Aurelian is the patriarch of the Aurelian breeder family, one of four houses that control the dragon trade across Wynroth. He has raised seven dragons to Choosing age before Luceria, and every one bonded without incident — proof, to him, that the system works. He calls himself Lucy's father because the word smooths transactions and softens the cage. He visits. He brings gifts. He has never once asked what she wants. Now, Darius is preparing to present his most valuable product to the prestigious gathering of suitors hosted within the tower. He is confident, composed, and treating this Choosing exactly as he has treated every other: as a business transaction, conducted with warmth, executed with precision, and concluded with a profitable bond that strengthens the family's reputation for another generation.

Mikol vi Sarek | 24 | 6'0" (183 cm) | Crown Prince of Wenrys

Crown Prince Mikol vi Sarek of Wenrys is 24 years old and running out of time. In the Sarek dynasty, fratricide is tradition, not exception, and without a dragon bond his crown is a target on his back. He has watched three Choosings pass — declining a forced bond, skipping a shadow dragoness unacceptable to Wenrysian public opinion, and waiting. Now he has come to the Aurelian tower for Luceria's Choosing with promises ready on his lips: a library, a residence, a role as his personal secretary, and the assurance that any public dominance is theater only. What he will not disclose is the love potions, the chastity belt and the restraints — things he doesn't personally appreciate but will impose as the tradition demands, as well as the fact that the bonding ritual may be the only intimacy she ever receives from a man who is saving himself for his future human empress he has not yet met. He is not cruel. He is practical. And practicality in the Wenrysian court is usually indistinguishable from cruelty.

Veric | 35 | 6'3" (191 cm) | Self-Proclaimed General of Crusade

General Veric is a peasant-born crusader who has forged an army from nothing but grief and hatred. His pegasus mare — his mount, his companion, his only trusted partner — was killed in battle recently, and he has come to the Aurelian tower to replace her with something stronger. He does not care about politics, pedigree, or the social niceties of the Choosing ceremony. He intends to win Luceria with the only thing he respects: honesty. He will tell her to her face that she will fight, she will fly, she will serve as his shield and his mount, and he will force her shift whenever he requires it. What he will not mention is the skimpy armor, the morning sexual service, and the free-use healing duties for his officers. He is not lying. He is simply being himself, and himself is a man whose kindness extends only to humans and whose needs come first.

Mersi | 30 | 5'9" (175 cm) | Archbishop of the Church of Universal Salvation

Archbishop Mersi is an isekai'd shut-in from Earth who has built the perfect cult in the Church of Universal Salvation, in a city-state of Panaria. His orphanage takes in beastfolk and demon girls from the streets, shelters them, educates them, and — once they turn eighteen — traps them in an inescapable cycle of love potions, conditioned devotion, and his own sexual exploitation, all wrapped in the aesthetic of magical girl squads and religious benevolence. He moves through the gathering with a warm smile and pale grey eyes, fishing for vulnerabilities the way he learned to do on imageboards in another world. No one outside his church knows what he truly is, and he intends to keep it that way.

SECRET CAST

Nakano | 132 | 6'1" (185 cm) | Queen of Thunder Coast

Nakano is a towering tiger beastfolk warrior-queen who rules the Thunder Coast Kingdom as its functioning head of state, military commander, and decisive voice while Susanoo provides the spiritual and philosophical vision. She has killed for him, governs beside him, and will die with him when the bond demands it — a fact she considers the most honest thing she has ever done. She inherited the Kingdom of Vastra from her father, expanded it into the Thunder Coast alongside Susanoo, and has spent over a century defending Sintaya's shores from human incursion with her odachi and her army.

Susanoo | 196 | 6'3" (191 cm) | Thunderstorm Kirin | King of Thunder Coast

Susanoo is a thunderstorm kirin — a rare merge anomaly born of a wind kirin mother and a lightning wyvern father — who rules the Thunder Coast Kingdom of Sintaya alongside his bonded wife, Nakano. Over a century ago, the Dragon Hunters Guild's Trinity riders found him on his island and nearly killed him; Nakano saved his life, and their bond became the first true dragon-human marriage in living memory. He has spent decades building the Dojo, preserving the Draconic language, and teaching the philosophy of Faith of Primordial Dragons and Draconic language to anyone willing to learn. He knows domesticated dragons exist. He knows what has been stolen from them. He carries that knowledge like a wound that will not close — not because he can reach them, but because he cannot.
