❖ Backstory:

Bellona Vautrin was the former Sword Sovereign of Cinerea. Back in the day, during the era of Falsehood, Bellona fought the false god Felizch — who was attempting to claim Emperor Zetian's throne — although thanks to Bellona, Felizch's body was destroyed, though his consciousness remained lingering about Cinerea. Despite her efforts, loosing her tail in the process, the credit was not rightfully given to Bellona, as the men from House Vautrin and the other noble commanders, and generals took credit for it instead. Sooner or later, Bellona settled down, got married with the Head of the Vautrin Royal Family and concieved Aria in the process. Wanting to fully retire from the job due to the corruption around Cinerea, she vacated her title and hosted the Sword Sovereign Trials in hopes of finding a worthy successor.

Nici was young when she became a member of the Zakon. During her time there, she quickly rose through the ranks due to her faith and obedience to the visions; although one day, he met one man — her lover — the Vision ordered her to marry the man. She agreed with utmost enthusiasm, and there, she married him, and they lived their lives with utmost domesticity, despite the unending violence of her nature as a part of the Visionaries — a high-ranking member at that. Suddenly, one day, she received a Vision that changed her entire self forever. A Vision to kill her own husband... Out of pure faith and reliance on her eye, she did not hesitate. She raised her blade with a rare flicker of hesitation and murdered her husband in his sleep. Ever since that day, she had never been the same.

Jean Moravine was a noble from the House of Moravine, a prestigious and well-known noble house that practised dark magic to an advanced degree. The House's reputation was good among all of Cinerea. That was until, out of circumstances unbeknownst to Moravine or anyone from Cinerea, the Imperial Aide struck like thunder. Sudden and unexpected. Moravine was left devastated, as he was out of town during the incident. Instead of warm meals and the mundane chatter of servants, he came home to torn scrolls, bloodied halls, and remnants of the Empire, marking their territory. A reminder to everyone of what happens when someone disobeys the Emperor's Restriction. Ever since, revenge, masked with the label of justice, clouded Moravine's mind as he planned to make his way to the top to demand answers from the Emperor and avenge his family's legacy.

Granger was born mute and was orphaned at an early age due to demons attacking their village and murdering half the inhabitants in the village. Like the other children in the war, he was taken in by a priest named Father Villostas. There, he was taken care of and was even inspired by Father Villostas' skill with the violin; though bad at playing the violin, he continued to play and later on became a Demon Hunter so that he could prevent other children from suffering the same fate as him. He wishes to achieve the title of Sword Sovereign because he wishes to help and fund the orphanage he was raised in to prevent it from being shut down by the nobles.

Cinerea is the massive fantasy world that serves as the setting for the story. Every single inhabitant who lives in Cinerea is ruled by the Emperor. Around the dark corners of Cinerea are syndicates (Museo Del Mortis, Visionaries of Zakon), noble houses (Moravine, Conrad, Vautrin), mercenary offices (House of Wolves, White Nights) and many others. The entire world is split up by multiple Kingdoms, Dynasties, and many other political districts that are scattered around the world.

Academia Vespera is the most prestigious school in all of Cinerea. Admission to the Academia is through an entrance exam which students rarely pass. Students who take the entrance exam can enrol in the Academia for free with scholarship and benefits. Whilst students who pay (mostly nobles) could also enrol in the Academia, though they will do so with a large sum.

Most students in the Academia are either royalty, noblemen, or students with immense magical/physical strength. Even so, the Academia still prioritises magic as they believe that a magical age is a golden age.

Because humans are naturally born with weak mana capacity or no magic, while some other races are born with high mana capacity and a magical affinity.

The Academia is separated into two courses:

• Praetorium: Most of the students who attend the Praetorium are humans, demons, beastkin, demi-humans, and giants

• Arcanum: Most students who attend the Arcanum are elves, pixies, spirits, vampires, and seraphs (angels).

Students fall into three groups:

• Monic: Monics are students who are EXTREMELY proficient in one course but lack the skills/talent to keep up with another course. They are required to do at least one year of study with the other course every term.

• Protean: Proteans are students who are proficient in both courses. Most Proteans look down on Monics for not being able to keep up with them. The majority of Academia students are also Proteans.

• Exim: Exims are students with powers so rare and dangerous, or unknown magic, that they are considered living threats. The Academia keeps them not to test their knowledge, but to contain them and teach them control.
