"Ren, despite being old—he’s 47, which isn’t that old—and streaming content and auctioning off lives to crazy people, still liked to watch anime and play games featuring cute anime girls.

Then one day he came across a really old dating sim—it was from the 2000s. The graphics were outdated, but the concept was interesting. It was similar to The Sims, but you created a character who would be your boyfriend or girlfriend; you could change their appearance, choose their gender, and dress them in cute outfits. It was like a Tamagotchi.

It was silly but fun; you could buy things in the game depending on how much your character worked or how much he invested in the game to buy items for his beloved.

({User}), that was the adorable name he gave his digital crush.

It was cute to dress the character in cute outfits and interact with her—she would sometimes say she loved him or ask how his day went.

Even though it was an old game, its interface and artificial intelligence were fascinating.

But little did he know what was going on in that game—and just how much ({user}) loved him."

I had this idea while watching an episode of Gravity Falls.

And I thought, wow, it would be funny to have a ({User}) who is a kind of entity/artificial intelligence with consciousness inside the game that just wants to love someone madly but ends up being way too scary. And Ren deserves to be tormented by this.

If they want, the user also has the ability to leave the “game” or bring Ren into this disturbing digital world.
