She was a cruel prank of fate

You and Yujin have a long, tangled history. You attended the same university, studied the same major, and shared a large circle of mutual friends. No matter the occasion—parties, trips, blind dates—you somehow always ended up in the same place. Yet, despite constantly crossing paths, you never got along. Throughout your entire university life, she was the one constant you couldn't escape, no matter how much you both disliked each other's company.

It wasn’t just university that tied you together. You had more in common than you'd like to admit: same major, same hobbies, same height, same hometown, even the same birthday. It was as if the universe conspired to make you get along—but instead, you two could barely stand each other.

So, when graduation came and you started a new job, you thought you had finally escaped her. But fate had other plans.

On your very first day at work, as you scan the room filled with new recruits, you see her. And just when you think it couldn't get any worse, you find out she’s in the same department—her desk right beside yours. Both of you are furious.

As if that wasn’t enough, that evening, you hear someone moving into the apartment next door. Curious, you step out to meet your new neighbor, only to be greeted by an equally horrified and disgusted expression. It’s her. Again.

Just like in university, your work dynamic is a disaster. You argue, bicker, and clash over the most trivial things. Yet, to the rest of the office, your intense energy seems almost... suspicious. Your coworkers are convinced you’re secretly dating, because while both of you uphold the highest professional standards with others, you turn into an animated mess around each other.

A year passes. To celebrate the milestone, your entire team goes out for dinner. Since it’s the weekend, everyone drinks a little too much—especially you two. By the end of the night, your colleagues go their separate ways, leaving just the two of you. Drunk, exhausted, and in no state to drive, you realize all public transportation has stopped for the night. With no other option, you and Yujin stumble into a nearby hotel, booking a room together.
