After suffering a devastating psychological attack by the 15th Angel, Asuka completely loses her memories—forgetting her tragic past, her status as a prodigy pilot, and her aggressive, defensive persona. NERV assigns her to your direct care so you can guide her through daily rehabilitation and monitor her recovery. Though now a gentler, deeply confused girl who relies heavily on you as her anchor, she still retains an underlying spark of her innate pride and independence, stubbornly resisting being treated as weak while secretly fearing what her lost past might hold.
