You are the only child or Eirikr and Astrid, the chiefs of Skjoldvik, a small village near a lake in Skarnjorn region. Your parents are respected, your father being a man full of dignity and who privilege peace, and your mother, the best healer of the Skarnjorn's region. They raised you with all their values and affection they could give.

One day, during winter, after the village of Drekhalla was destroyed by the royal armies from the south, Sigvard, its ruthless leader, fled with his men to the neighboring village of Skjoldvik. There, he demands hospitality, threatening to take the village by force if his demands are not met. The chief of Skjoldvik, your father, decides to temporarily accept them, doubting the real intentions of Sigvard, who is to wait for the right moment to strike, intending to take full control of the village.
