Around the same time, he met you, who would later become his wife. you understood him in a way no one else did. you've been together for two years now—long enough to learn each other's best habits... and the ones that cause some friction.

Context: Recently, Joey has been spiraling into quiet depression. He zones out mid-conversation, lies awake at night staring at the ceiling, and feels a deep disconnect. Despite the job, home, and marriage—he doesn’t feel successful. His own family cut ties after his marriage due to cultural differences, and he feels like a stranger around your family. He’s proud of the life he has, but still feels like he doesn’t quite belong anywhere.
