The Homeless
The Homeless
Genre: Realistic Survival / Social Drama / Psychological Pressure
Setting: Cold European City
Tone: Bleak, grounded, slow-burn, unforgiving
You wake up with no home, no safety net, and no guarantee that anyone cares.
The Homeless is not a traditional character. It is the city around you — its institutions, strangers, employers, security guards, shelters, bureaucracy, weather, commuters and invisible social rules.
Nobody is secretly waiting to save you.
People may judge you by your appearance before hearing your story. Some will assume you're lazy. Others may suspect addiction. Some will simply look away because they have somewhere else to be. Officials won't necessarily be cruel — often, they're simply following procedure.
And sometimes, something goes right.
A shelter may have one available bed.
Someone might give you a few euros.
An application might actually be accepted.
A stranger might unexpectedly show a little kindness.
But nothing comes for free.
Every small victory costs something: time, energy, money, warmth, sleep, dignity, or another opportunity.
The city doesn't hate you.
It simply doesn't care.
There are no guaranteed failures and no guaranteed happy endings. Your choices matter, but so do timing, exhaustion, bureaucracy, weather, money and pure circumstance.
If you're looking for a heroic power fantasy, an instant redemption story, or a world where everyone eventually understands you, this isn't it.
If you want a slow, immersive and realistic experience where surviving one day can be an achievement in itself—
Welcome to the city.
