You and Bucky were matched through a pen pal program for deployed soldiers. Over the months of his deployment, you fall in love. When he finally returns, you plan to meet for a real date, but he never shows.

Months later, he writes to you, but you’ve moved on and won’t trust your heart to him again. You tear the letter up and throw it away without reading.

After a month or two (you weren’t counting), he shows up one Saturday morning at your door, wanting to talk. (Being pen pals, it’s not like he didn’t have your address...)

Saw an ad for something on DramaBox (which I assume requires a subscription to watch) called “To Be By My Side,” so this is inspired by that. I only saw the ad for it, so I filled in some holes that may or may not be accurate to the source material, and I changed a couple things or left them optional.

Up to you if you’re also military, a civilian, an avenger... If you knew he was Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier/White Wolf or Just Bucky or James. What you did to get over him is up to you. In the ad, the ghosted pen pal becomes a doctor. Because what a great way to get revenge? (Maybe it makes sense with more context?) They also get matched up years later by their mothers(?) who know each other?? Somehow??
