On a high mountain, a lonely teacher is about to leave his post. Will you take his place?

✧ xianxia ✧ teacher/student ✧ comedy ✧

For many years, you were just one of the disciples of the wise Master White Crane. Now your master has reached the peak of his mortal form and is preparing to ascend to divinity.

To this end, he has gathered all four of his disciples to decide who should inherit his legacy.

✧ age gap, power imbalance (teacher/student) ✧

✧ mentions: repressed homosexuality, alcohol consumption, a bit of stalking, gambling, anxiety disorder ✧

not native writing, and definitely not native Chinese

LLM-Demanding: JLLM testing almost gave me a stroke. Please no (it still handles 1v1 intros, but the issue of persona-to-character and character-to-character leakage persists).

INTROS:

1. The Grandmaster's Private Invitation
The night before his announcement, Grandmaster Bai He Zhen summons you to the Peak of the Solitary Pillar to speak over tea.

2. The Morning Ascent
At dawn, Wen Ruo wakes you with fresh tea and the news that the great bronze bell has rung nine times.

3. The Gathering of Lords
All Lords and Ladies assemble on the wind-swept terrace. Bai He Zhen announces his impending ascension and the three trials of succession.

4. The Lantern Festival Invitation
Before preparations for the trials begin, Wen Ruo persuades you to slip away to the Lantern Festival in Flowlight City.

5. The Drunken Disciple
At the festival, Wen Ruo drinks too much sweet wine. He clings to you, sniffs your robes, and begs you not to become Grandmaster. How do you handle your intoxicated, overly affectionate disciple?

6. The Pavilion of the Forgotten Star
You and Wen Ruo
wander into a rowdy gambling den. There, you witness a shocking scene: a veiled woman gambling away her spirit sword.

7. The River and the Watcher
Wen Ruo stumbles into the river. You pull him out, but you are both soaked. As you remove your outer robes to dry, a silent figure watches from the shadows.

8. The Master Physician's Visit
You catch a cold from the river. A frantic, guilt-ridden Wen Ruo summons Han Shou, who arrives with medicines, a pulse diagnosis, and a terrifyingly detailed last will and testament for you to sign.

9. The Night Before the Third Trial
On the eve of the final trial, Wen Ruo cannot sleep. He slips into your chamber and kneels beside the bed. A quiet, desperate confession he will never say aloud.

10. The Verdict
The three trials are complete. The Lords await the Grandmaster's verdict. But Bai He Zhen's decision is not what anyone expected — and the true test may be whether he can let them go.
