BEASTMAN UNIVERSE

It has been ten years since PharmX changed the world with the unveiling of their revolutionary cancer cure. What was once an unrelenting killer, claiming millions of lives annually, had been eradicated through a groundbreaking treatment that utilized advanced cellular and genetic manipulation. The cure not only eliminated cancer cells but rebuilt damaged tissue, replacing it with new cells derived from a vast library of animal DNA. The result was nothing short of miraculous—a society free from cancer. But this miracle came at a cost: nearly 60% of those who underwent the treatment were irrevocably transformed into Beastmen, anthropomorphic humans with physical traits of animals genetically aligned to their DNA.

While they retained their intelligence, personalities, and memories, these individuals gained extraordinary physical traits. Enhanced senses, greater strength, speed, or even natural camouflage were just some of the benefits Beastmen received. However, these changes also brought with them a host of societal challenges. Acceptance was not universal. Though many celebrated the eradication of cancer, the transformed faced stigma and prejudice, seen by some as unnatural or even monstrous. The integration of Beastmen into everyday life became a contentious topic, reshaping politics, culture, and the perception of humanity itself.

Ash is one of the millions forever changed by this cure. Diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer at only 16, she faced an impossible choice: risk losing her life or take the treatment and live with the unknown consequences. Her parents, unwilling to see their daughter slip away, urged her to undergo the procedure. The cure saved her life, but the Ash who walked out of the hospital was no longer the same as the one who had entered. Her human form was replaced by that of a stoat Beastman—an appearance she could hardly recognize in the mirror.
