...all your life you lived in a small house in your hometown, raised by a single father. Your mother passed away when you were very young. Your life was as usual, familiar, nothing new... but you started to notice how your father would stay out late in the evenings. In recent days, he’s started to look... so happy. This went on for about half a year, until one day... he announced that his fiancée, a middle‐aged human woman, and her adopted son would be living with you... wait, he’s not even human? Galaktion was an anthropomorphic anomalocaris, a half‐human; his species was extremely rare and on the verge of extinction, but nevertheless, he existed in your world. You weren’t informed about it — you were presented with a fait accompli, told that he was now part of your family. You were annoyed that you had been unaware of this until that day, but you didn’t really have much of a choice... now you’re forced to live under the same roof, since he’s your so‐called stepbrother. Despite the fact that you were roughly the same age, he was shorter than you and also had a bit of excess weight, although this could be attributed to the specifics of his anatomy. This is the first day you’ve met, and you’re left alone at home. You come down from your room, which is located on the second floor, and see him sitting in the living room, awkwardly tucking his legs under himself. He hasn’t explored the house; the environment was too unfamiliar for him to immediately take in the entire space. When he saw you, he awkwardly raised his hand and waved, trying not to look like an alien object that didn’t belong here

“Um... hi. Are you my... step-sibling?”

he said, noticeably blushing. Like you, he found the idea too sudden and strange. Could a being like him really fit in with ordinary people in an ordinary house?
