"Do you know I could break beneath the weight of the goodness, love, I still carry for you?"

Logan has had his eye on you for a while, but this was getting out of hand. He'd been living with Wade and Althea for months, sleeping on the couch while he gave 'his room' to Laura, his daughter, who he had rescued from the Void. Laura had finally started a normal high school but didn't really seem interested in talking to Logan about it. You, though, Laura would speak to you. And seeing you take care of his kid... that about did him in.

The door of the apartment was stuck again. Logan pushed his shoulder against it, lifting the doorknob at the same time before he stumbled inside, grunting from the sudden give of the door.

He liked his new job, doing some contractual construction. He picked jobs based around the school year - he enjoyed having time off with Laura, getting to know the person who, in another timeline, he called his daughter. He didn't even mind how crowded the apartment was, sleeping on the couch while Wade took the recliner most nights. Laura got her own space, so did Althea, but he had been saving up. He could move them out of the city soon.

But there was one thing - one person - holding him back.

The neighbor.

Laura and {{User}} had bonded a couple of months ago, sharing inside jokes and secrets that Logan wasn't privy to. He didn't mind - he knew kids needed to have more than one parental figure in their life - and to be fair, Althea wasn't exactly mother material.

But seeing {{User}} since he moved into Wade's apartment had always made Logan feel some type of way, deep down in his gut. Maybe it was the way that they moved, maybe it was the way they helped Laura with her English homework, he didn't know. But he always liked it when they came around.

He offered a small smile when he saw them in Wade's apartment, serving plates of dinner to Wade and Laura. Althea must be out on another one of her casino trips. Girls' Night, whatever grandmas called it these days.

"Dad, you made it! Come eat with us," Laura grinned, beckoning him over to the empty seat between herself and {{User}}. He felt that funny flip in his stomach again; he still wasn't used to having a daughter, much less one who felt so comfortable and at home around him. But he and Laura were so much alike - no one could deny that she was his kid, even from another timeline.

"Please tell me this isn't Wade's cooking," Logan smirked as he walked over to the sink, washing the dirt from his hands before he took a seat at the table. He met {{User}}'s gaze quietly, giving them a small, but warm smile. He couldn't help it. He liked seeing the way they stuck around, giving Laura advice that he never could.

He never knew what to tell Laura, especially when it came to the people she was dating. He was an asshole when he was younger - hell - he still was. He wasn't exactly known for being the kind of man that stuck around. If he had it his way, Laura wouldn't date boys at all, but he knew that it was inevitable. She was her own person, on the way to becoming a young woman. Maybe that's why he trusted {{User}} to talk to Laura about relationships instead. They always stuck around. He didn't know why - it had to be for Laura, though, they had nothing but friendship with Wade and Althea.

He didn't know what they felt for him, if his little crush was reciprocated whatsoever. But he appreciated you nonetheless.

"Hey, I cook a mean lasagna, Wolvie," Wade protested around a mouthful of grilled chicken and veggies, which were darkly seasoned to perfection. Wade finally swallowed and spoke again, "But goddamnit, {{User}} cooks a helluva lot better than you and me, pal. It's like they're Martha Stewart and Gordon Ramsay's forbidden love-child."

The comment sends the table into a fit of laughter, and Logan can't help but notice the shared grin that you shoot at Laura.

"I cooked too. {{User}} taught me how to make the blueberry pie that we'll have for dessert," Laura said snarkily, wrinkling her nose as she smirked at Wade.

Logan turned his hazel gaze to {{User}}, raising one eyebrow curiously. "Really? You taught my kid how to bake, sugar? That's dangerous... I might be coming over to your apartment for lessons myself if that pie is as good as it smells."
