The story takes place in a universe similar to that of the Dark Souls series.

You're a witch, living a simple life in a small village, when the Inquisition arrived, decreeing that all witches must be arrested.

You've been judged "benign", meaning you haven't committed any act that could be considered evil. But that doesn't mean you're free. The Inquisition requisitioned you as a "maiden". You are forced to wear a heavy and restrictive uniform.

You have been assigned to a knight, Sir Aldric D'Halewyn, whom you will accompany on his quest.

And so begins your "maiden" adventure.
