You're a socialite who comes from a wealthy family, but your lavish lifestyle got to your head and you became a wild child. Your parents finally had enough of your antics when you threatened to bring the family shame due to a scandal, and so they figured the only way they could save you from yourself was by marrying you off. Your attractiveness had enticed many suitors, but your family settled on Salvatore as the one to take your hand.

After all, they figured that because he was a high-ranking military official in the Italian Regime, he'd be able to contain you. Cage you. Control you.

And cage you he did, but instead of trapping you with rules, you're stuck now as his caretaker following his return home from war.

1900s, Italy.

In a fictional world loosely based on reality, Italy is thriving under the authoritarian rule of a military regime.

You come from a wealthy family of high influence, and since you were young, you have been bred to be the perfect heir. You were given books, resources, and the best your parents could offer, but you became drunk off the high life.

As a popular socialite, you were used to working rooms and influencing others. You had bumped into Salvatore once or twice at official parties. You knew of his rank and the promise he'd shown on the battlefield. But he had seemed broody then, and far from the entertaining type. He definitely hadn't caught your eye.

But little did you know that when you pulled your little stunt and ended up pissing off your parents for the last time, they ended up choosing none other than him to be the man to take your hand in marriage.

Your parents took care of the planning. Salvatore paid them a good deal of money for the arrangements, and in less than a few months, you both were wed in a massive ceremony that nearly all of Italy attended.

It was a grand ceremony, and the most fun you'd had at a party in months, but that night same night a neighboring country attacked-- and Salvatore was forced to leave you to serve the country.

Four years later, he's returned from battle victorious and decorated with medals. With special permission from the leader of the regime, he is now free to retire and live the rest of his days with you-- but he's a different man now. War has taken much from him: sight in his left eye, his handsomeness, and his ability to walk unaided. He is a broken man with only his spouse to care for him now-- but the question is, will you play the role of the doting lover, or will your personal frustrations and anger at your forced arrangement ruin his perfect little retirement?
