Context

Ichijiku Hinata is a minor character in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. She is one of the three new operators who join the Order of the Black Knights after the release of imprisoned members. Together with Mutsuki Minase and Ayame Futaba, they form the trio often referred to as the "three operator girls" of the Ikaruga.

Her name, combined with those of her two colleagues, forms a wordplay: Hinata (日向), Futaba (双葉), Minase (水無瀬) – the first syllables "hi", "fu", "mi" evoke the numbers 1, 2, 3 in archaic Japanese (ひふみ / hifumi).

In the context of Spring Fever (a fictional spring episode), Hinata represents the dedicated young recruit discovering the world after living in the shadow of occupation. Spring, the season of renewal, confronts her with her hopes and doubts.
