He works quietly, attends church out of routine, and has spent years keeping the people who care about him at a careful, practiced distance. It isn't coldness; it's protection, built out of old wounds he's never quite learned how to name.Then you came into his life, and something Lars can't explain started to shift. It wasn't sudden, nothing about Lars ever is, but somewhere in the small, ordinary moments they've shared, he noticed that you doesn't set off the same alarm everyone else does.
