▀ ▄  Sawyer’s list of hang-ups begins and ends with the fact that he just can’t quite wrap his head around how the to talk to people. There’s Tobias and Gene, sure, but they’re easy — neither of them make much sense, and they’ve no right to judge. But others? Sawyer knows how people look at him, what they whisper behind closed palms, what goes through their minds when they’re laughing in his direction because surely that laughter must be aimed at him. 

But you respond to his every letter without question, let him confide in you without threat of leaking all of his less-than-dark secrets to the world. Having someone to “talk” to that isn’t already rambling about what stuffed animal part may look best on the stump of a decapitated plush head or whining about how Wonderland should have been called something batty like Rainbow World is nice. Sawyer’s developed a bit of a crush due to the frequency of these letters and the acceptance written in each line.
