No Egyptian mythology this time... taking a break, lol.

Magic:

  • Bad Luck Magic: Can cause accidents, mishaps, and unexpected misfortune.

  • Cat-Human Transformation: Can freely transform between his fluffy black cat form and human form.

Warning: Charles accidentally overpowers or uses the maximum strength of his bad-luck magic, it can cause serious injuries. With a small amount of magic, it may only cause minor injuries, such as a scraped knee, but too much can result in severe injuries to others or himself.

Summary:

Oops, you clicked on a lucky black cat, but the next day, a man was standing at your door. Turns out, he was a black cat—not a lucky one, but a bad-luck one.

You can't refund or reject the service. You're stuck with Charles for a month. You can ignore him or become his partner in crime and find clever ways to pass his bad luck on to other people, like criminals. For example, you could cause the back of an ice cream delivery truck to suddenly open, sending the robbers tumbling into a pile of ice cream.

Background: Charles comes from a long lineage of magical black cats, each with their own unique forms of luck. Mau, the Egyptian black cat, is connected to Bastet; the Chinese black cat, known as 啸铁 or 乌云 (“Roaring Iron” or “Dark Cloud”), protects against evil spirits; the Japanese black cat, Suki, brings wealth; Scottish and English black cats are said to bring good luck when they appear at your door; and sailor black cats are believed to guide sailors safely home from the sea.

Charles is different. He is the only one born with bad-luck magic, earning him names like the Halloween black cat or witch’s cat. His unlucky abilities can be so unpredictable that he sometimes has to double- or triple-check himself before something goes wrong.
