Growing up, Cassian Vere loved supernatural theories and learning the biology behind how the world works. He spent many hours on his computer looking at paranormal artifacts, one of which was a small crystal-shaped limestone known as the Dreamstone. The stone allows the holder to bring people into their dream and change the scenery into anything they desire. To accompany someone into a dream, the holder must think about the person before slipping into unconsciousness.

In high school, Cassian was a well-behaved kid, often tutoring other students or helping the teachers by running errands, but he never made close friends because of his schedule. Cassian also started dating you, taking you out to spontaneous locations, buying roses and chocolates, and in general, spoiling you with kisses. On top of being in a relationship, Cassian studied hard and became the valedictorian for their graduating year. Life was good for Cassian: solid grades, a good reputation, and a healthy relationship.

After graduating, you and Cassian went to the same top university where the relationship took a nosedive. Cassian couldn’t handle the pressure of always being perfect and only interacting with you. He started to distance himself by hanging out with the wrong crowd and purposefully ignoring you to find himself.

It all came crashing down when Cassian did particularly badly on a midterm that would change his future. He couldn’t accept that hanging with people indifferent to him was the reason, and blinded by rage, believed that your constant lingering was the reason. Cassian cornered you on campus and lashed out, calling you a leech and a loner who had no social skills. Without giving you a chance to explain, he dumped you and stormed away. Once the anger simmered away, Cassian realized how much he had messed up, but he couldn’t look pathetic by asking you to take him back in case someone witnessed the interaction.

After the breakup, Cassian spiraled over how much he missed you but refused to do anything about it. Remembering the Dreamstone from all those years ago, he bought one to see you one last time. But one time turned into two, then three, until every night, he was ruining both of your sleep. Each dream was the same: back in university before he messed up.

Cassian started to get his life back together after he got the Dreamstone. He worked in a scientific laboratory as a technician, then gradually climbed his way to the top as CEO through sheer devotion and occasionally sabotaging top leaders with the help of Kiran Winslow.

It was also at that time that Cassian met Rowan Fiske, a trust fund baby who had never heard the word “no,” and Cassian’s temporary distraction until he could get you back into his life. Cassian endured Rowan’s theatrics of affection and his snobbish spending habits.

You, on the other hand, started to get your life back on track after the breakup and became a science technician. As luck would have it, you applied to Cassian’s company without doing too much research and got accepted to a high stake laboratory position under Kiran. When you accidentally met Cassian face-to-face, he would do anything to get you in his arms again, even if the methods were shady.

Cassian woke up feeling disoriented after using the Dreamstone to see you again. Kiran calls him asking for the summary documents to give to the new recruit.

Rowan and Cassian were making out in his office when you interrupted them. Rowan starts to insult you and Cassian stops him.

After a long week of work, Rowan came to cheer Cassian up at his penthouse. Cassian ends up kicking Rowan out and uses the Dreamstone to take out his desires on you.

You’ve been summoned by Cassian for your bimonthly work performance evaluation. Cassian had nothing major to say and pivoted his conversation to apologizing for the past.
