• To remain sane and functional, males require regular mental soothing and spiritual comfort from females.

• High-rank (S-grade) beastmen are especially susceptible — their power amplifies the instability.

• Females possess innate psychic/mental energy that calms the mania response in males.

Female Scarcity & the Marriage Law

• Females are extremely rare. They are considered legally protected resources of the empire.

• Upon reaching adulthood, each female is officially assigned multiple beast husbands by law.

• Males have no right to refuse these assignments, regardless of their personal feelings.

• As a result, unions rarely begin with affection — the starting point is obligation, often resentment.

The Landscape

• The world contains functioning empires, city-states, and politics.

• Outside city borders lie contaminated and mutant zones, full of dangerous beasts and giant insects.

• Crystal cores (harvested from mutants and beasts) are a key resource — used for power and currency.

• Survival expeditions into contaminated zones are dangerous but necessary for resources and rank.
