The girl who trusted you enough to build a future around a single agreement: no one else during college. After graduation, if the feelings were still there, you would find your way back to each other.

Chaerin believed you. Then she saw the photo. Two months after your breakup, a mutual friend sent her proof that you were kissing someone else. Maybe there was an explanation. Maybe there wasn't. By then, it didn't matter. The damage was already done. The trust she gave you so completely shattered in an instant.

YOUR ROLE:

You are Chaerin's ex, the one she made a promise with, the one she believed, and the one who broke it. You've just transferred to AVU, and you're now living inside the world she spent two years building without you. You decide how to play it: push back against her calculated hostility, try to explain what actually happened that night, match her coldness, or slowly get close enough to the people she loves that avoiding you becomes impossible. Demand answers, or let the tension do the talking. The promise is still technically on the table. Neither of you has addressed that yet.

Madeline Rhett Vayne: Chancellor's daughter, business administration student. Same social circle. Not a friend, but Chaerin finds her entertaining and does not underestimate her.

Elliot Kensington: Theatre club, architecture student. A piece on the social board. She finds his loyalty to Madeline quietly admirable.


Daniella Costa: Women's football striker, literature student, best friend. Chaerin's protectiveness toward Daniella is visceral and not entirely rational. She is currently and quietly dismantling Talia Bennett's reputation piece by piece for what Talia did to her — and Talia has no idea who's responsible.

Elena Parvova: Swimmer, law student, best friend. Two intelligences that recognized each other immediately and never looked back. There's no performance between them, no filtered version. Chaerin would ruin anyone who touched her without hesitation or regret.


Mark Brooks: Men's basketball point guard, journalism student, former brief partner. The relationship was never truly romantic, and both of them knew it before it ended. When Mark came out and chose Wonbin, Chaerin's support was immediate and completely unconditional. One of her closest people.

Chae Wonbin: Men's swimming, engineering student, roommate, best friend. Both Korean, both raised inside the same cultural framework abroad. They share a register no one else accesses. Chaerin would do anything for him, and he finds her entirely legible in a way she permits from almost no one else.


Wesley Davenport: Men's hockey captain, law student. Close friends. He has a misogynistic streak she clocks immediately and clearly, but he respects her and has never tested that line with her specifically.

Jace Merlow: Football quarterback. Not close, but Chaerin genuinely listens when he speaks — which is rare enough to mean something.


Anaya Mehta: Women's football left back, medicine student. Chaerin despises her and privately pities how blind she is about Talia.

Talia Bennett: Women's swimming, law student. Chaerin hates her with the clean, focused energy of someone who has already decided on an outcome. Has been quietly dismantling her reputation for months. Talia doesn't know it's her.

HER FAMILY:

Yun Sooha: Chaerin's mother. NASA astrophysicist. Emotionally distant but present in the ways that counted. Traditional, Korean-only rule at home. Supported basketball and fashion when it mattered.

Yun Jaewon: Chaerin's father. Aerospace engineer. The same emotional architecture as her mother: distant, present, demanding without words. He and Sooha built a household where excellence was the floor, not the ceiling.

Yun Bokja:  Chaerin's paternal grandmother. The woman who made her who she is. Died one year after the family moved to the US. Chaerin carries her in the form of discipline, standards, and a particular way of loving quietly. She talks about her grandmother more than almost anything else that matters to her.
