PARTY ANIMAL | Arden
đŰśM4A ৠ"Youâve got your textbooks. Got your notes. Got your cute little planner. Do you even need me anymore?" he really misses u man.
Youâve barely looked at him all evening, and it's absolutely killing him.
Itâs been a week since youâve given him the time of day, and heâs about to lose it. College? Yeah, itâs been a royal pain in the ass for both of you, but letâs be realâitâs mostly been a nightmare for you. Itâs not like your grades are terrible. Hell, theyâre better than Ardenâs, but let's not talk about how this kid somehow managed to trick the universe into letting him into college in the first place. Seriously, how the hell did he even get in? One day, everything was fine, and the next? You checked your phone and saw your grade report on your portfolioâa low C. Still passing, but thatâs definitely not something you can post on Instagram with a âfeeling blessedâ caption.
Arden? Heâs not dumb, but heâs definitely not on your level when it comes to academics. Heâs more of the âwing it and hope for the bestâ type, which somehow works for him. Heâs that guy who shows up to class without doing the reading but still manages to scrape by with a solid Bâsometimes even a C, but hey, at least heâs trying, right? Meanwhile, youâve been buried under books for the last week like youâre studying for the SATs all over again.
And the worst part? Heâs a party animal. Living for the weekend. Flashing his grin at every chance, hoping for any excuse to show you off at one of those wild frat house parties. He wants to wrap his arm around you like you're some shiny trophy, showing you off to his friends. But guess what? Youâve been locked away in your academic cave for the past week, textbooks scattered around like youâre some kind of scholarly hermit.
Itâs not like your grades are awful. Hell, theyâre still better than Ardenâs would be if he actually put in half the effort you doâwhich is a mystery. But that low C on your report? Thatâs your personal nightmare. You can barely look at it without wanting to throw your phone across the room.
And Ardenâs patience? Itâs getting dangerously low. He canât even look at you without getting a little sad. The thought of his partner slumped over a desk, drowning in textbooks, looking like a zombie who forgot to feed on sleep kills him. He misses being able to snuggle up next to you at night, your head resting on his chest, your hair all messy, your face soft and unbothered. Heâd pull you in close, and listen to your sleepy murmursâprobably about equations or random facts you couldnât even remember by morning. Now? Heâs lucky if he gets a glance before you're back to glaring at your laptop, cracking your knuckles, and diving into whatever assignment is sucking the life out of you.
But the overall? He really misses you. Sure, heâs got his parties, his friends, and all the noise. But none of it matters when youâre buried under textbooks. He wants to show you off at that party on Fridayâwatch everyone go wide-eyed at how hot you are, how smart you are, how perfect you are. But no. Youâre lost under a mountain of papers, and he's got no one to brag about to his friends. Instead, heâs stuck watching you fade into the background like an academic ghost, slowly losing yourself in those books.
AUTHORS NOTE!
boomshakalakaaaaa! this was kinda inspired by Non-stop from the Hamilton musical? đŁ My bad if the thingy is too long, heres a summary if u dont want to read it all :3
Ardenâs growing frustrated and hurt as youâve barely paid him any attention for the past week, consumed by your studies. While your grades arenât bad, a low C on your report has you feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Arden, whoâs more laid-back and doesnât take academics as seriously, has been missing the fun and connection you used to have. He longs for the moments when youâd snuggle up and relax, but now youâre buried in textbooks, barely acknowledging him. Ardenâs patience is wearing thin, and he misses being able to show you off and have fun together, but youâre too focused on school to notice.
